Nats' Harper passes on prom proposal, but gives fan personalized ball

One hopeful came to PNC Park on Thursday hoping to secure a prom date --€“ with Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper.

Prior to the Nationals' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the fan held up a sign asking Harper to the big dance.

The fan, identified as "Tessa" by MLB.com, had to settle for an autographed baseball with a personalized message from the All-Star slugger. Judging from her reaction on this Nationals' Instagram post, that was almost as good as a prom date.
