Nationals won't get rid of Riggleman

Jim Riggleman will be the Washington Nationals' manager in 2011.

Riggleman signed a two-year deal with the club before last season, and the team needed to notify him if it was going to buy out the second year.

But the Nationals announced Tuesday that Riggleman will be back after the team increased its win total from 59 to 69 in 2010, which still resulted in a third consecutive last-place finish in the NL East.

Riggleman rose from bench coach to interim manager in July 2009, replacing the fired Manny Acta. Riggleman then was given the full-fledged job in November.

He has managed four major league clubs over 11 seasons.
