Nationals hire GM Rizzo's dad as senior advisor

The Washington Nationals' latest front-office addition might be tempted to order his new boss around. That's because senior advisor to the general manager Phil Rizzo is the father of Washington GM Mike Rizzo. A baseball scout for more than four decades and now nine major league franchises, the elder Rizzo joined the Nationals on Thursday, a little more than three months after his son was promoted to general manager. The pair also worked together with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1999-05. Last year, Phil Rizzo was one of eight members of the inaugural class of inductees at the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame.
