Morosi: Giants have expressed interest in Reds closer Aroldis Chapman

The San Francisco Giants might soon make a major addition to their bullpen.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the defending world champions have talked to the Cincinnati Reds about flame-throwing closer Aroldis Chapman.

The Reds, who are well out of playoff contention at 43-53 on the season and 19 games back in the NL Central, have demonstrated that they are willing to trade key players after dealing ace Johnny Cueto to the Royals over the weekend.

Although the Giants already have an established closer in Santiago Casilla, who has 26 saves on the season, Chapman is viewed as one of the most dominant relievers in baseball and would give San Francisco's bullpen a big boost.

While Casilla holds a 2.97 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings, Chapman's ERA on the season is 1.73 with 74 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings.
