Mets reportedly have deal in place for Reds slugger Jay Bruce (UPDATE)

The New York Mets are making a splash at the non-waiver deadline, landing Cincinnati Reds slugger Jay Bruce to bolster their offense, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Bruce, 29, has spent his entire nine-year career in Cincinnati after being taken with the 12th overall pick in 2005.

He's batting .265 this season, with an NL-best 80 RBIs and 60 runs. He also has 25 home runs.

The trade, which was pending physicals before being completed, will reportedly ship a package of prospects to the Reds that includes 23-year-old outfielder Brandon Nimmo.

UPDATE (3:46 p.m. ET): The deal is done, per Ken Rosenthal.
