Mets' Rafael Montero progressing in minor-league rehab assignment

Rafael Montero is growing closer to returning to the Mets, as he continues to work his way back from his DL stint for rotator cuff inflammation.

The right-hander threw three shutout innings in his second minor-league rehab start for the Gulf Coast Mets on Monday. He allowed three hits, struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Montero, who has been on the DL since April 29, has an ERA of 4.14, averaging more than a strikeout per inning in 15 career big league appearances.
