Mets fans anxious about Wild Card game

And by Mets fans I really mean me.

No, but seriously, I’ve spoken to a few fellow Mets fans and we all have the same thought — we’re all extremely excited…but we’re all really anxious.

Well, of course we are. We’re facing Madison Bumgarner. Need I say more about that? I don’t think I have to go back and reflect on how phenomenal of a pitcher he is, you guys already know.

Plus, this game is one and done. This is it. There’s one chance to get into the actual playoffs. Yeah, yeah I know the Wild Card game is technically part of the playoffs, but we all know it’s not the playoffs we all want to be part of. We want more. Give us NLDS. Give us NLCS. And give us the World Series.

I will be at tomorrow night’s game. And I will be an anxious mess — I already know it. But I’m sure I’ll be in great company as you all probably will be too.

But you know what, I also have extreme pride and excitement in this team. They’ve overcome so much this season, and yet they’re still out here playing. I can only hope that this pride and this excitement fills the stadium as well.

Can this team beat Bumgarner? Well, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN, perhaps they shouldn’t even show up to try. But do I think they can? Yes,  yes I do. Ya gotta believe, right?

If you’re anxious or worried about tomorrow’s game, you’re not alone. We all are. But just remember, this team wants this, too.

Yoenis Cespedes is already planning on celebrating tomorrow night, which is why he didn’t fully celebrate Saturday night when the Mets clinched a Wild Card berth. Who better to trust that the Mets will go out and win this game than La Potencia, right? Just hit us homers Ces, and make us a little less anxious.
