Mets ace Matt Harvey: 'We're here to win now'

The New York Mets' front office is reportedly waiting until 2016 to make a substantial deal, but that's not affecting current Mets players' mentality towards this season.

Stacked to the brim with young aces on their pitching staff, the Mets could be a dangerous team if another bat were added to the lineup, but it appears as though the team's brass will wait until next season to make such a move, according to the New York Post.

Nonetheless, that doesn't alter the mindset of the current Mets team, which is atop the National League East with a 31-27 record.

"We don't look to the future, we're here to win now, and that's our goal," pitcher Matt Harvey said. "We start to worry about what we're going to do next year or the year after with what we have, than we're not doing our job to win now, and we're not focused on what we have now."

Alongside reigning Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom and promising rookie Noah Syndergaard, Harvey is a part of a talented young pitching staff that could lead the Mets to the playoffs this year.

"Our job is to win for the New York Mets right now," Harvey said. "We can't worry about what's to come, because we're doing everything we can do to play now and win now."
