Max Scherzer surprises young fan in stands with game of catch

"Hey Max, great game last night!" Joseph La Rocca called to Scherzer from the left field stands before the game.

"Oh, Joe! This is a dream," says Joseph's father, Joe Sr., who was recording. "Joe is playing catch with Max Scherzer. Are you kidding me?"

Scherzer held the Mets to two runs on Tuesday night and struck out 10 in a loss, and before that he tied the single game strikeout record with 20 K's against the Detroit Tigers on May 11.

"I'm never giving this ball away," the youngster said. "There's no way."

"It took Max two minutes to create a lifetime memory for me and my son," Joseph Sr. wrote on Facebook. "I am beyond grateful. PS, my son wants to know if he is famous now..lol."

Sort of, yeah. For all the right reasons.
