Max Scherzer knows who's to blame for Nationals' blackout: Taylor Swift

So, what jocular take did you have when a big chunk of the lights went out at Nationals Park on Friday night during the Nats-Dodgers game, twice delaying and then suspending the action?

Somebody didn't pay the electric bill. Geez, that's the best you can do? See, that's one of the differences between you and a major leaguer. Let Nats pitcher Max Scherzer show you how it's done:

First, there is the social currency of tapping into popular culture by invoking one of our biggest pop stars. Also, Scherzer adds a touch of fact-based currency: Swift's 1989 World Tour stopped at Nationals Park on Monday and Tuesday. Finally, Scherzer hashtags the title of Swift's huge hit with the celebrity-studded accompanying video.

But perhaps there really is a Taylor Swift Jinx at Nationals Park. During her Monday concert, she had to endure her own technical difficulties. At one point during the show, the singer's mechanical platform got stuck. She performed a song suspended among the crowd before the glitch was fixed.

Meanwhile, another of the Nationals, All-Star outfielder Bryce Harper, offered a mea culpa for the outage. 

If you've ever seen Harper's impressive mane, this almost sounds like a reasonable explanation.

Precluding any more Swiftian jinxes or perhaps a drain backup caused by Harper's hair, the Nats and Dodgers will pick up their suspended game on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. EDT in the top of the sixth inning with Washington ahead 3-2.
