Lidge, Nationals agree to one-year deal
The surprisingly active Washington Nationals have agreed to terms with former Phillies reliever Brad Lidge on a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.
The deal is for $1 million plus incentives, according to a major-league source. Lidge, 35, will likely serve as a setup man for the Nats’ current closer, Drew Storen.
Lidge opened up last season on the Phillies’ disabled list, and eventually lost his closing role to Ryan Madson.
Lidge, an All-Star in 2005 and ’08, also sealed the 2008 World Series for the Phillies.
News of the deal was first reported by CSNPhiladelphia.
