Kris Bryant's dad excited to take part in derby

Kris Bryant's father, Mike, won't just watch his son take part in the Home Run Derby – he'll be the one pitching to him.

"This is just frosting on the cake that he's in the Home Run Derby and I'm able to pitch to him," Mike told Cubs.com. "I'll take the chocolate, with the cake being that Kris made the All-Star team."

Mike, a former minor leaguer, has never played in front of the type of crowd that will be there Monday night, but hopes he's able to block out the distractions.

"I don't know how I'm going to react to that," Mike said. "I hope I don't clam up and can't throw a strike. I think I'll be able to collect myself. The last time I played in front of 50,000 people was like never. I played in front of 15,000 once and that didn't bother me."
