Kipnis leaves game with right abdominal strain
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis has left Cleveland's game against the Los Angeles Angels because of an abdominal strain on his right side.
The injury occurred in the fourth inning Tuesday night, when Kipnis grounded into a 6-4-3 double play against Jered Weaver after a leadoff single by Lonnie Chisenhall.
Kipnis, a first-time All-Star last season, is batting .234 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 26 games. He had 17 homers and 84 RBIs in 2013 - both career highs - becoming the first Indians second baseman to lead the team in RBIs since Joe Gordon in 1948.
