Josh Donaldson has an odd explanation for the argument with his manager
Josh Donaldson had a rough day Wednesday, going hitless with two strikeouts and injuring his right thumb in a 7-4 win over the Yankees.
And, oh yeah, jawing with his manager in the dugout after he slammed his bat in frustration following a third-inning strikeout.
John Gibbons approached the reigning AL MVP after the tantrum, and the two had a heated exchange. But they laughed it off after the win, which kept Toronto atop the AL East. In fact, it was hard to tell whether Donaldson or Gibbons had a more comical take on the incident. From the Blue Jays’ website:

Winning heals all except, perhaps for Donaldson’s thumb. He left the game in the sixth inning and is considered day to day.
