Invasion by 7 Line Army makes Mets feel right at home in Baltimore
The New York Mets had their army out in force Tuesday night in Baltimore, to the point where it almost felt like a home game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The 7 Line Army, with comedian Jim Breuer in tow, made the trip to Camden Yards for New York's 5-3 victory and certainly left an impression in the visitors' dugout.
“It’s electric,” Mets manager Terry Collins told reporters after the game. “Our fans, they’re incredible. Wherever we go. We had them in Florida. The 7 Line was here tonight, they’re unbelievable when they show up.
“You’ve gotta like it. If you’re a player ... how can you feel tired or fatigued when you’ve got that atmosphere going? It’s really cool.”
Breuer, a fervent follower of the team and former cast member on "Saturday Night Live," has chronicled New York's season with regular podcasts and warned Baltimore fans via Twitter of the army's impending invasion.
Starting and winning pitcher Jacob deGrom acknowledged in his postgame interview that the presence of the 7 Line Army provided an atmosphere similar to Citi Field.
