Indians recall RHP Salazar to start vs. Orioles

CLEVELAND (AP) The Indians recalled right-hander Danny Salazar from Triple-A to start their series finale against the Baltimore Orioles.

Salazar began the season in Cleveland's rotation, but was twice sent back to Columbus, most recently on Aug. 7. He's beginning his third stint with the Indians, who will try to complete a sweep of Baltimore on Sunday.

Salazar is 4-5 with a 4.88 ERA in 12 starts for the Indians this season. During his most recent stay with Cleveland, he went 3-1 with a 3.68 ERA in four starts.

Salazar's main issue has been giving up big hits to right-handers, who are batting .317 (44 of 139) with eight homers and 21 RBIs against him. The Indians remain high on Salazar, who rose quickly through their system last season and started the AL wild-card playoff game.

''He's made some mistakes to right-handed hitters,'' manager Terry Francona said. ''Other than that, he's been really good.''

To make room for Salazar, the Indians sent outfielder Tyler Holt to Columbus.

Holt batted .385 in six games with Cleveland.
