Indians' Donald bruises hand
Cleveland Indians third baseman Jason Donald sustained a badly bruised left hand Saturday, but didn't break it when he was struck by a pitch from Chicago White Sox starter Gavin Floyd.
X-rays taken were negative. Donald's hand is swollen and he will likely miss a few days to let it heal.
Donald was hit during an at-bat in the second inning. He said he was scared that it was broken and was relieved by the test results.
Donald moved to third this year after playing shortstop and second base in 2010. Last season, Donald batted .253 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 88 games. He was brought up from the minors in May when shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera broke his left arm.
