Indians acquire Slowey for Putnam

The Cleveland Indians are preparing for the possibility that recently arrested right-hander Fausto Carmona may be prevented from pitching early this season.

On Friday, they agreed to acquire right-handed starter Kevin Slowey from the Colorado Rockies for relief pitching prospect Zach Putnam, a major-league source told FOXSports.com.

The Indians are familiar with Slowey, since he had pitched for the Minnesota Twins before a trade to Colorado this offseason.
