Hillary Clinton reacts to Chicago Cubs reaching World Series (Photo)

The Chicago Cubs reaching the World Series for the first time since 1945 is a major event in the sports world, and a presidential candidate was not immune to a reaction.

The Chicago Cubs clinched the 2016 National League pennant with a 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the NLCS on Saturday night. They will play in the World Series for the first time since 1945, as the betting favorite starting Tuesday night against the American League champion Cleveland Indians.

With Election Day (finally?) fast approaching, the presidential candidates are making a final push to win votes. But that does not mean they’re completely disconnected from the world outside, as evidenced here with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as she wrapped up a day on the campaign trail.

Clinton was apparently a Cubs’ fan as a kid, and she has consistently professed allegiance to the team alongside her fandom of the New York Yankees in the past. Cubs’ co-owner Laura Rickets hosted a fundraiser for Clinton in May of 2015, so the feeling appears to be mutual as far as an owner of a sports franchise expressing any political affiliation.

Clinton seems sure to”Fly The W” at all of her campaign events in the coming days. That is of course the Cubs’ slogan, but she could also weave it into her public speeches between now and Nov. 8.
