Hamilton sore in Texas return, Murphy optimistic

Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton says he has some soreness and tightness but no pain after his first two games back in the lineup.

Hamilton, who missed 24 games with two broken ribs, is batting third and playing left field for the regular season finale Sunday. He played center field on Friday and was the designated hitter Saturday, when he hit a two-run homer.

Outfielder David Murphy remains optimistic about being ready for the playoffs despite a strained left groin sustained Wednesday. He has hit and thrown, but says he won't know for sure about his groin until he runs Monday or Tuesday.

Hamilton will be the batting champion in the majors. He went into Sunday's game hitting .360 with 32 home runs and 100 RBIs.
