Halladay rejoins Phils after absence

Philadelphia Phillies ace Roy Halladay returned to the team Friday following a brief absence to attend to a personal matter.

Halladay rejoined his teammates in Washington and threw his normal bullpen session ahead of Philadelphia's game against the Nationals.

He declined to comment through a team spokesperson, according to CSNPhilly.com.

The 34-year-old right-hander left the team following an uncharacteristic performance Wednesday night in which he surrendered a 6-0 lead against the Braves.

He reportedly told Phillies manager Charlie Manuel earlier in the week he would need to be away from the team for the final game of the series in Atlanta.

The two-time Cy Young winner is expected to make his next scheduled start against the New York Mets on Monday.
