Gordon homers in Royals' 9-4 loss to Indians' split-squad

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) Alex Gordon hit his second spring homer and Edinson Volquez struck out six in four innings, but the Kansas City Royals lost 9-4 to a Cleveland Indians split-squad on Sunday.

Gordon homered on the first pitch from right-hander Mike Clevinger in the first inning.

Volquez allowed three runs and five hits, including a two-run drive to Giovanny Urshela, who leads the Indians with three homers and nine RBIs.

Cleveland's Trevor Bauer allowed one run and two hits over four relief innings.

Roberto Perez hit a three-run homer off rookie left-hander Brian Flynn in the Indians' five-run seventh.
