Giants present Pablo Sandoval with his World Series ring
While Michael Morse received his World Series ring to much fanfare on the field at AT&T Park last week, Pablo Sandoval received his ring in a much more private way. The Giants had arranged to give the Panda his ring while the Red Sox were in the Bay Area to play the Athletics. With the Red Sox in town this week, the presentation happened Sunday night in Sandoval’s hotel room.
Despite the negative comments Sandoval made toward his former team this spring, Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow didn’t indicate that there were any hard feelings at the presentation. He said:
"It's baseball. Everybody has moved on from the comments Pablo has made. I mean look, he was really a popular Giant. We loved the guy. And his good so far outweighed the bad, it's not even worth mentioning the bad. Without him, they don't win three.”
Manager Bruce Bochy, who was one of two people (along with Hunter Pence) whom Sandoval had singled out as the only Giants he would miss, downplayed the Panda’s comments:
"We appreciate what Pablo did for us," Bochy said. "Some things were taken out of context, that's what I've been told through friends of his -- that he didn't mean it the way it came out.”
