Dough! Cheese Chester breaks foot, placed on DL after nasty Pierogi Race fall

It's always a shame when food falls to the floor, like when Cheese Chester took a nasty tumble during the Pierogi Race at the Pirates-Dodgers game Wednesday night.

The zesty Polish dumpling had pretty much made mincemeat of his competition when the Cheese made the fatal mistake of looking behind him to apparently "taunt the opposition" and fell to the PNC Park floor:

The unsavory splat turned serious when Chester did not get up right away (there goes the five-second rule), prompting immediate medical assistance and a set of wheels to cart him off.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle had tentative news on the big Cheese's status after the game:

Turned out the pierogi had broken his foot, and Pittsburgh had no choice but to put their beloved dumpling on the DL, where the designated runner is expected to be out for 6 to 8 weeks.

Cheese Chester's hard-boiled misfortune turned out to be Potato Pete's boon, however, as Pete, rumored to be soaking in seedy broth(els) as of late, will suit up for the Majors for the first time in 13 years.

Get well soon, big Cheese.
