Dodgers reportedly down to three managerial finalists; Erstad withdraws

The Los Angeles Dodgers have one fewer managerial candidate, as Darin Erstad has removed his name from consideration, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Erstad is the head baseball coach at the University of Nebraska and told the newspaper he was withdrawing from the Dodgers' search because "I love the Huskers."

On Friday, ESPN first reported that the Dodgers had narrowed their list of finalists to four: Erstad, Gabe Kapler, Dave Roberts and Bud Black. The team also has interviewed Dave Martinez, Tim Wallach, Ron Roenicke, Kirk Gibson and Bob Geren, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Dodgers and former manager Don Mattingly mutually parted ways Oct. 22, and Mattingly recently was hired as the Miami Marlins' new skipper.

Despite winning three consecutive NL West titles, the Dodgers still have not reached the World Series since winning it all in 1988.
