Dodgers' Kershaw frustrated again as lights go off at Wrigley Field

Clayton Kershaw was frustrated once again in his latest start, a loss on Monday to the Chicago Cubs. While Kershaw considered his last start one of his most frustrating, the frustration on Monday came from something beyond his control.

A few lights went out at Wrigley Field on Monday night which led to a 10-minute delay as Cubs manager Joe Maddon came onto the field to discuss the situation with the umpiring crew. According to ESPN’s Mark Saxon, Kershaw was not happy with the way the situation was handled:

“Obviously, I wanted it to keep going, but if they were going to wait for however long, just tell me and I’ll go sit down,” Kershaw said. “I don’t know if Joe was trying to do that on purpose or what. It didn’t really affect me, but it was a good idea.”

Maddon eventually declared that the Cubs would play under protest. Kershaw’s frustration was evident again in his response to Maddon’s protest:

“It’s just one more thing to waste time. I’ve never seen a protest actually work. I mean, they won the game, so I hope they win their protest.”
