Depth move: Mariners acquire pitcher Joe Wieland in trade with Dodgers
On Tuesday, the Seattle Mariners added to their organizational depth chart by acquiring 25-year-old right-hander Joe Wieland from the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor-league infielder Erick Mejia.
The deal was initially announced on Twitter via Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports before the Mariners confirmed it themselves:

Wieland has had a difficult time at the big-league level so far in his career, managing just 11 appearances in three seasons for the San Diego Padres (in 2012 and 2014) and the Dodgers (in 2015). Last season, he started two games for the Dodgers, allowing ten hits and eight earned runs in just under nine innings of work.
To make room for Wieland on the 40-man roster, the Mariners designated pitcher A.J. Schugel for assignment.
As for the prospect sent back to Los Angeles, the M's parted ways with 21-year-old infielder Erick Mejia.
