Denard Span optimistic he'll return to the Nats on Wednesday
Although outfielder Denard Span's knee was still bothering him on Tuesday, he thinks he'll nonetheless be able to take the field for the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
"I just felt it was probably smart to give it another day," Span said of testing out his knee on Tuesday, per the Washington Post. "Come back out here tomorrow, pretty confident that hopefully will play in the game."
"I'm just gonna come here tomorrow and go through my normal routine and see where I'm at," he clarified. "But in my mind, I wanna play tomorrow."
Tests revealed that although Span's knee is swollen, there is no structural damage in the area.
Whether he returns for the Nationals' game on Wednesday or later in the week, Span assures he's not concerned about the injury.
"I'm trying not to worry. I'm a big worrier," Span said. "I've had a couple injuries already this offseason and spring training, so I'm trying not to worry about it. I'm trusting in what the training staff and the doctors have told me, and they said, you know, I should be okay. So only thing for me to do is go out there and test it out, and once I do that, that'll be the truth right there, the true story."
