Davis, Diamondbacks blank Padres

Something about facing the San Diego Padres brings out the best in Doug Davis.

The Arizona left-hander hadn't won in more than five weeks, but pitched one of his best games of the season Friday night, holding the San Diego Padres to three hits in six innings in the Diamondbacks' 8-0 win.

"I felt great," Davis said. "It was awesome how the guys behind me came to play. They made some great plays out there. And the four runs in the fifth was huge. I could just go out and throw."
