Cubs to honor Butler coach Brad Stevens

Brad Stevens had better start warming up his arm - and his vocal chords.

The Chicago Cubs have invited the Butler basketball coach to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before their game against the Florida Marlins on May 10.

The 33-year-old Stevens will also lead fans in singing ``Take Me Out to the Ballgame'' during the seventh-inning stretch at Wrigley Field.

Stevens led the Bulldogs to a 33-5 record and their first Final Four this season. Butler beat Michigan State in the semifinals before losing 61-59 to Duke in the national championship game.

The Horizon League school rewarded Stevens with a new 12-year contract. He has a record of 89-15, and more wins after three seasons than any other men's basketball coach in NCAA history.
