Corey Seager blast gives Dodgers early Game 2 lead (Video)

Corey Seager hits a solo home run to right, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a quick lead in Game 2 of the NLDS.

We all knew the Los Angeles Dodgers were going to be a tough team this year, and Corey Seager is making sure of that. On Sunday afternoon, he blasted a huge home run to right field to give his team the quick 1-0 lead.

He was as patient as he could be, waiting out a 3-0 count from Tanner Roark. He found the pitch he liked, and took 397 feet worth of advantage of it. Every run in the postseason is crucial, especially against a team like the Washington Nationals. It’s his second first-inning home run through two games in this series. And you can bet there will likely be plenty more where that came from, if the Dodgers stay alive.

The Dodgers are 53-22 when scoring first this season, which numbers-wise gives them a huge lift as this game progresses. As a side note, this is the second postseason meeting between these two clubs. The last time was in the 1981 NLCS, when the Nationals were known as the Montreal Expos. The last time the Dodgers saw the NLCS, was way back in the Orel Hershiser pitching days of 1988.

Roark was barely 10 pitches in, but had managed to get the first two outs without much issue. He got Adrian Gonzalez to pop out, and then Justin Turner followed up with a grounder to Ryan Zimmerman. Seager then stepped up and got the scoring started.

Los Angeles leads this best-of-five series 1-0, and is trying to make quick work of the Nationals. The winner of this series advances to the NLCS, where they will face the winner of the Cubs/Giants series.
