Chicago Cubs Kris Bryant Signs Record Deal with Topps
Memorabilia for the Chicago Cubs is incredible popular right now, and for good reason. Third baseman Kris Bryant is cashing in on this success, as he signed the largest contract in the history of Topps baseball cards.
As the Chicago Cubs have finally broken their 108 year long championship drought, interest in the team is at an all time high. We saw over five million people turn out for their World Series parade, a number considered to be the seventh largest gathering of people in history. As Mugatu would say, the Cubs are so hot right right now.
That interest extends to Cubs memorabilia as well. Naturally, given that the Cubs winning a World Series is a once a century event, their championship gear is flying off the racks. Anything related to the Cubs is almost a guaranteed sell, as people want a way to commemorate this event.
Naturally, this would extend into the baseball card realm as well. With that being the case, Topps announced that they have signed Cubs superstar third baseman Kris Bryant to a record breaking contract. While the details were not announced, it is reportedly the highest contract in company history.

In what is known to be a multi-year contract, Bryant will now be a large part of Topps campaign. Autographed Bryant cards will be inserted in various Topps and Bowman products, and he will serve as the face for Topps BUNT, their trading card app. Bryant is also going to be on eht cover of the upcoming 2017 Series One set.
It makes sense that Topps would be interested in locking in Bryant to be one of the faces of their products. He has already had quite the career, making the All Star Game in each of his first two seasons and winning the 2015 Rookie of the Year award. Bryant could well be adding to his trophy case this season, as he is one of the favorites for the National League MVP award.
While Bryant has exploded onto the baseball universe, this is still the perfect time to sign him for endorsement deals. At 25 years old heading into next season, Bryant should only get better as he approaches his prime. Considering that his career has already been quite impressive, the sky would seem to be the limit as to what Bryant could accomplish.
In signing Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant to be one of the faces of their product, Topps has someone who should draw collectors in for quite some time. And the timing of the Cubs winning the World Series certainly helps to bring in new collectors.
