Cardinals cap ridiculous ninth-inning rally with walk-off hit by pitch

The Cardinals trailed 4-0 going into the bottom of the ninth inning Monday and things looked pretty bleak. They had been 0 for 11 with runners in scoring position against the Reds in the game.

But then Yadier Molina got them going with a single before ultimately capping the crazy comeback by taking a fastball to the ribs. But the pain was worth it.

Making the five-run ninth-inning rally even crazier is that Molina was on second base with two outs after that leadoff single. Here’s what followed for the next seven Cardinals batters after the second out was recorded: walk, hit by pitch, single, single, walk, walk and the game-winning hit by pitch.

Things were a little different in the opponents’ clubhouse afterward.
