Cabrera gets fussy, delays game

The Detroit-Chicago White Sox game was delayed for several minutes in the first inning Friday after Tigers' star Miguel Cabrera complained that the batter's box wasn't the right shape or size.

Before he faced a pitch with two outs in the first inning, Cabrera's back leg was out of the box, and he said something to home plate umpire Adrian Johnson. After a conference with crew chief Gary Cederstrom, two members of the grounds crew came out with a rake and brush and wiped out the lines around the plate.

A batter's box frame used to create the lines was carried in from beyond the center field fence and the lines reconfigured before play resumed. Chicago's Jake Peavy then retired Cabrera on a fly ball.
