Brewers release OF Gerut

The Milwaukee Brewers have released outfielder Jody Gerut.

Gerut was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 27 with a left heel bruise. He was on a rehab assignment in Arizona, the Brewers Rookie League affiliate, when he was activated Friday and given his unconditional release.

The 32-year-old Gerut was in his second season with Milwaukee. He was hitting .197 with two home runs in 32 games this season.
