Braves rookie righty Williams Perez to start Friday versus Phillies

Altanta Braves rookie Williams Perez will return to the rotation and start Friday night's game at the Philadelphia Phillies.

Perez, sidelined since taking a line drive off the right foot on June 26, will take the starting slot of left-hander Alex Wood, who was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.

The 24-year-old Venezuelan is 4-0 with a 2.88 ERA in 11 appearances (eight starts) and has notched all four victories along with a save in his last seven outings. He tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings of one-hit ball Sunday in a rehab start at Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves have dropped four straight, including a 4-1 setback to the Phillies in Thursday's season opener.
