Braves minor leaguer gets 50-game drug suspension
NEW YORK (AP) Atlanta Braves catcher Orinn Sears has been suspended for the first 50 games of the season following a positive drug test under the minor league drug program.
The commissioner's office said Friday that Sears tested positive for metabolites of Methandienone.
Sears will be 23 in March. He signed with the Braves in June 2013 out of Arizona Christian, an NAIA school, and is on the roster of the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Braves.
There have been 14 suspensions this year under the minor league program.
