Boy returns to NJ after having successful eye surgery, meeting Angels' Trout
Eight-year-old Thomas Walkup recently underwent dramatic eye surgery to remedy 'Shaky Eye Syndrome', or congenital nystagmus, a condition he was born with that severely hampered his ability to see out of both eyes.
After his family raised money for the complicated procedure, the surgery was conducted on Aug. 13 in Southern California and Walkup began improving immediately...so quickly, in fact, that his family facilitated a meet-up with Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout prior to the Halos' home game on Aug. 21. There's a local twist, by the way: Walkup and his family are from Millville, N.J., Trout's hometown.
