Blue Jays set out Marcus Stroman's rehab schedule
On Wednesday, two days after Marcus Stroman tossed a simulated game, the Toronto Blue Jays set tentative plans for rehab appearances leading up to a September debut for the right-hander.
According to Sportsnet, Stroman will throw a 55-pitch simulated game Friday, followed by a 70-pitch rehab start September 2 for Lansing.
He would then toss 85 pitches for Buffalo September 7. If all goes according to plan, Stroman could make his season debut September 12 against the New York Yankees.
"He has to continue to pass every test and then if there are any issues in between we could pull the plug," GM Alex Anthopoulos told Sportsnet. "That’s a real tentative game plan right now."
Pitching in a playoff hunt in September, and possibly the playoffs in October, would only help Stroman's development, Anthopoulos said.
"I do think it will be important for him to be exposed to that," the GM said. "Contending, competitive, important games in September; being around pros like that, that can only help him."
