Blue Jays' Pillar stands hopelessly on bag between innings after getting thrown out

In the seventh inning of the Blue Jays-Diamondbacks game on Wednesday night, Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar took off for second base when D-Backs catcher Tuffy Gosewich fired a near-perfect throw across the diamond.

Gosewich and second baseman Jean Segura got him, just barely, when Segura wedged his glove between the bag and Pillar's spike. Then Pillar stood there on the bag for several seconds as Segura stayed kep the tag in place in what looks like some kind of performance art.

And then the infinite sadness set in. Pillar bent over, perhaps contemplating the jump he got, his slide, or his existence. According to the announcers, Pillar remainded with his foot on the bag "for about five minutes it seems like" as he waited for his teammates to take the field and deliver him his glove.

Tough break for Pillar who has stolen seven bases but gotten caught five times this season. Unless of course the 27-year-old was playing some equivalent to a "hands on the car" contest -- and won.
