Blue Jays exercise option on Oliver, re-sign Davis

The Toronto Blue Jays have exercised their $3 million option on left-hander Darren Oliver and have signed outfielder Rajai Davis to a one-year, $2.5 million contract after declining the option on his previous two-year deal.

Davis hit .257 with 24 doubles, eight home runs, 43 RBIs and 46 stolen bases last year. The Blue Jays held a $3 million option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.

The 42-year-old Oliver was a steady presence in the injury-riddled Blue Jays' staff. He was 3-4 with two saves and a 2.06 ERA in 62 games for Toronto.

Also, Toronto reinstated from the 60-day disabled list right-handers Kyle Drabek, Drew Hutchison, Sergio Santos and Dustin McGowan, and left-handers J.A. Happ and Luis Perez. To make room on the 40-man roster, outfielder Scott Cousins and right-hander David Herndon were designated for assignment.
