Bauer guaranteed $4.45 million by Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Trevor Bauer is guaranteed $4.45 million under the four-year contract he agreed to this week.

Winner of the Golden Spikes Award as the top player in college baseball, the UCLA right-hander was taken with the third overall pick in last month's amateur draft.

The deal would be worth about $6.95 million if he makes it to the major leagues at the start of next season and stays up.

Bauer receives a $3.4 million signing bonus and is guaranteed salaries of $50,000 this year, $333,333 in each of the next two seasons and $333,334 in 2014. If he is in the major leagues, he would receive the $414,000 minimum this year, $600,000 next season, $1,325,000 in 2013 and $1,575,000 in 2014.

Bauer reported to Class-A Visalia on Tuesday.
