Atlanta Braves pitcher feels pain in shoulder blade

Braves right-handed starter Tommy Hanson felt pain in his right shoulder blade during a rehab appearance in Florida and was shut down after two innings, one fewer than he was scheduled to throw.

Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez said before his club's game Friday that Hanson will try to throw a side session in a few days.

Hanson, 11-7 with a 3.60 ERA, went on the disabled list Aug. 7 because of tendinitis in his throwing shoulder. The Braves have been hoping they could bring him back to get in a regular-season start if they clinch a playoff spot.

Gonzalez also said that right-handed reliever Peter Moylan was diagnosed with a torn labrum and rotator cuff by the team orthopedist and will get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on Monday.
