Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, All Turner Field Team, Baby Free Is On His Way!

Baseball Reference

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves played well and hard against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, but came up just short.  How long can we continue to use that sentence without it getting old?  Yes, the Braves are playing a lot better than they were at the start of the season, but hopefully we can make that leap forward over the hump and start getting these close games.  Julio Teheran pitched a great game until the top of the 6th inning.  Then the wheels fell off.  He gave up four runs that inning off a leadoff triple, a single, a hit batter and a homer.  Freddie Freeman continued his hitting streak before he exited the game…see below on why he left.  For a full recap, check ours out!

Now is your chance to select the best Braves players that have called Turner Field home by submitting your vote for the TOYOTA ALL TURNER FIELD TEAM! Use the ballot below to give your opinion on who is most deserving. Voters will be entered in the All Turner Field Team Sweepstakes for the chance to win a Turner Field Final Game VIP Experience!

All players who played at Turner Field for a minimum of two seasons are eligible for the fan vote. One player will be selected for each field position and relief pitching spot, and fans will select five players for an entire starting pitching rotation. Bobby Cox will represent the Toyota All Turner Field Team as manager.

Benches clear after Braves pitcher throws at Jose Fernandez’s head

Tempers flared in the seventh inning Wednesday when Atlanta Braves pitcher Jose Ramirez threw high and behind a bunting Jose Fernandez’s head.

Fernandez had to be held back the moment Ramirez’s 95-mph fastball sailed past his head. It was the second time Fernandez had to avoid a high pitch near his head. Ramirez didn’t back down from the confrontation either, as he continued to shout at the Marlins ace.

Benches cleared after Fernandez continued to argue with Ramirez.
