Astros' rookie Correa on quite a prodigious home run pace

Carlos Correa is wasting absolutely no time in showing the league he's more than ready to handle big-league pitching.

In fact, his red-hot start to his major-league career is not only putting him in the Rookie of the Year conversation, but it's also putting him in some incredible territory as far as his home run prowess is concerned.

On Saturday, Correa slugged his eighth home run in 34 career games (all this season, of course). How rare is that? Well, let MLB.com's Richard Justice explain:

In fact, Correa became the first shortstop since 1914 to reach eight homers in just 34 games (as MLB.com's Chandler Rome pointed out).

In addition to his home run abilities, he also entered Sunday hitting at a .282/.315/.521 clip with 18 total extra-base hits.

It's easy to see that the Astros have an extremely promising future centerpiece in Correa, who should presumably match up with All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve in the middle infield for years and years to come.
