Astros coaches agree to extensions

Each member of the Houston Astros' coaching staff, except for hitting instructor Jeff Bagwell, has agreed to a two-year contract extension.

Bagwell replaced Sean Berry at the All-Star break and only committed to staying through the end of the season. He says he wants to consult with his family before making a decision about his future.

Bagwell spent his entire 15-year playing career with Houston, hitting 449 homers.

General manager Ed Wade said before Saturday's game at Pittsburgh that the Astros hope Bagwell will continue in the role.

The rest of the staff includes pitching coach Brad Arnsberg, third base coach Dave Clark, first base coach Bobby Meacham, bench coach Al Pedrique and bullpen coach Jamie Quirk.
