Angels' Trout out of lineup vs. Astros because of sore wrist

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout was out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Houston Astros because of an injured left wrist.

The All-Star center fielder was hurt attempting to make a diving catch in the fourth inning on Sunday but stayed in the game and later hit a grand slam.

Manager Mike Scioscia said that Trout was having an MRI as a precaution Tuesday but he had not received the results yet.

"Don't anticipate anything but we'll wait for the results," Scioscia said of the MRI. "It looks like it's moving in the right direction. He finished the game fine. Hit a grand slam after it actually ... it was a little stiff yesterday, feels better today, but just not quite where it needs to be."

Scioscia said he is listed as day to day and that he probably wouldn't be available to hit in Tuesday's game, but could be available in another capacity.

He wasn't sure what to term the injury, but said that Trout's wrist was sore and stiff on Tuesday.

Trout leads the majors with 31 homers and is hitting .315 with 64 RBIs.

Tuesday was the first game of a three-game series between the top teams in the American League-West. Los Angeles entered first in the division, one game ahead of Houston.

Trout did not speak with reporters before the game.
