Angels put Izturis on DL; recall Frandsen

The Angels have placed infielder Maicer Izturis on the disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder and recalled infielder Kevin Frandsen from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Frandsen made his Angels debut by starting at third base Saturday night at Seattle.

Izturis had an MRI exam Friday in Seattle. The results were pending review from Dr. Lewis Yocum, yet the Angels decided Izturis will be unavailable long enough to warrant the DL stint. The move is retroactive to May 6.

Izturis has been limited to 14 games this season.

The Angels claimed Frandsen off waivers from Boston on April 29. He played 174 games from 2007-09 with San Francisco before getting traded to the Red Sox in late March.
