Angels hold team meeting after sweep, but say they aren't panicking

The Los Angeles Angels seem to have hit a wall. After being swept at home by the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend, the Halos enter play Monday 63-61, a game and a half behind the second-place Texas Rangers and five and a half games behind the first-place Houston Astros in the West.

They no longer possess one of the two AL Wild Card spots and have seen their offense essentially disappear over the past week or so.

After Sunday's defeat, manager Mike Scioscia held a meeting with his club. As he told MLB.com's David Adler, the chat was more or less a 'state of the team' address: "We talked about a couple of things. I think everybody's realistic about this weekend and where we've been the last couple of weeks. But there's still a lot of confidence in that room and we need to bring it on the field and start playing games like we can."

Pitcher Garrett Richards, who was ineffective on Sunday, echoed the same sentiment regarding the team's confidence level: "Nobody in here is panicking; there's a lot of baseball left to play. I mean, obviously we're losing, but everybody in here is ready to play every day."

Mike Trout, who has been uncharacteristically cold lately (before going 3-4 on Sunday) had this to say to Adler: "Obviously when you lose, you're disappointed. No one like to lose. We know we're a good team. We can't hang our heads now."

With just a little over a month left on the season schedule, the Halos would benefit greatly by turning the corner...if they can find a way to do so.
