Angels' Freese leaves after getting hit by a pitch

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Los Angeles Angels third baseman David Freese has been taken out of Friday night's game against the Texas Rangers with a bruised middle finger on his right hand after getting hit by a pitch from Colby Lewis.

Freese was up with a man on and two outs in the third inning when he tried to check his swing on the right-hander's 0-2 delivery and shook his arm in pain several times before going to first base. Ian Stewart replaced him when the Angels took the field for the fourth.

Freese is batting just .202 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 84 at-bats with the Angels, who acquired the 2011 World Series MVP in a multiplayer trade with St. Louis in November after he spent his first five big league seasons with the Cardinals.
